What They're Saying

Each day was fast paced, with captivating events that, I believe, will have a life-long impact on the children’s lives. They will never again look at fire, safety, home security, communication, or teamwork the same. I could see my son’s mind reaching, connecting and maturing with the information provided each day. The impression this week made on him was invaluable, and was presented at an especially impressionable age. I hope you have some idea of the impact that the week at ‘Fire School’ had on our kids, and I sincerely hope that it’s a program that continues because there are so many kids out there who would get as much out of it as our students did. As I go through their journals and see how much they learned and learned to appreciate, I am struck by the quality of their work and the depth of thought. This tells me that they were very engaged and involved and just generally having a really good time. In fact, the week was so significant to them that it has motivated a group of students to give back. I just wanted to let you know that our Youth Volunteer Corps, which is made up of (and led by) many of the students who were part of Fire School, is committing part of their fundraising initiative this year to the Firefighters Burn Treatment Society.
