Work alongside experts; develop awareness and action

At City Hall School, students and teachers are immersed in civic governance, participate in the public realm and explore local history within neighbouring communities. A wealth of opportunities exists for students to learn and become informed and civically engaged citizens.

Ideas for inspiration could include:

  • Examining the democratic process and citizen engagement
  • Exploring social issues, environmental stewardship and sustainability
  • Investigating historic preservation
  • Discovering local history and public art

What They're Saying

"The students were connected with local experts who assisted them in not only understanding the working mechanics of our city but helped them to look at it through our specific lens of inquiry. This was the best way to personalize Calgary citizenship for the students." - Grade 6 teacher
